About The Event
NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) is the UK’s nationally recognised youth climbing development programme, supporting more than 250,000 young climbers since 2008. Now delivered in 295 climbing gyms and schools worldwide, NICAS provides structured pathways that help young people progress safely while supporting the development of confident and capable climbing coaches.
This seminar introduces the NICAS philosophy and explores how structured programmes can grow youth participation, strengthen coaching practice, and build lasting climbing communities. Through real examples from international gyms, we’ll share how climbing walls, schools and organisations are using NICAS to create accessible pathways that support long-term engagement in the sport.
